Beautiful Weekend

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend from start to finish! We had a nice relaxing evening doing fun stuff. Friday night Evan had a classmate's birthday party to go to. I took him since I sort of know the mom from helping out at school. Jackson, (the classmate) was having a Lego birthday party which Evan couldn't have been more thrilled about. We all know how Evan LOVES Legos. Emmaline and Greg had some daddy/daughter time riding bikes and going to the park while we were at the party. The birthday party was fun and there were lots of kids from Ev's class there. All together there were probably at least 20 kids. I don't know how Jackson's mom stayed so calm through it all as the kids went from one floor to the next in her immaculate new house. They played and played, did some party games, and watched Jackson open his presents. Jackson is a special needs child. He has down syndrome so he needs help with some things. Since there were so many kids there were lots of presents for Jackson to open. Most of the kids got tired of sitting around as Jackson opened presents and ran off to play. I was so proud of my Evan for staying behind and helping Jackson out. He was a very good helper. We had a very nice time at the party and Evan was excited that he got to bring home some Legos in his goody bag.

Saturday we didn't do a whole lot. Ev and I went to a few garage sales in the morning, but we didn't find anything good. I must give myself a pat on the back because of the garage sales we went to, I have to say nobody sets up a garage sale like I do. Most that we stopped to had junk, pure junk that should have just been thrown out and everything was just thrown in piles on tables or on the driveway pavement. Seriously it made me not even want to look. We were at nice houses too and some of the stuff was so old and gross. I told Evan not to touch anything. It might take a little more time to organize stuff, but I think it's worth it to make it appealing to customers to buy. We even ran across a house that had a "tip jar" on their checkout table. Really? I just couldn't believe it. While we were out Ev got a haircut that was much needed. He's got a cute fairly short summer cut (shorter than we normally cut it). After we got home we lounged around, and I ended up taking a nice long nap on the couch while the kids and Greg watched a movie upstairs. Then we went out to dinner and finally used our gift certificate we won at Greg's work Christmas party. We ran a few errands and came home and finally got to sit out on the deck and have some drinks. It seems like every weekend we have tried to relax on the deck and light the tiki torches it rains. It was a nice relaxing evening and my friend Jess came down and hung out too.

Sunday Greg went for a bike ride in the morning. We went for a late lunch with Greg's mom, and then we made a Sam's run for a few things. Later on we took the kids mini golfing. Last summer a few people told us about the golf course down the road has free mini golf for residents of our neighborhood. We never got around to checking it out last year. More like we always forgot about it. Anyhow, we went to check it out and sure enough there was a mini 18 hole putt putt course at the golf course. All four of us mini golfed for free! The kids had fun putt putting around. Since we had a late lunch we weren't really hungry for dinner so we did the Tasty Twist dinner again. It was hot and worked out great instead of having to cook in the heat. The kids wanted to play outside when we got home so we went for a walk/bike ride and then headed to the neighborhood park. It was a nice ending to a great weekend.

Now we're on the last week of school for Evan. Only three more days and I'll have a first grader. WHAT???? I just can't believe it. Tonight Ev had his first t-ball game. It was a lot of fun to watch the kids. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
