It's now only a little over three weeks and my baby girl will be two as I mentioned before. I have decided on the party theme, and ladybugs it is. I found some really neat party supplies, I've got some party ideas in the back of my head that I'm thinking about. Holy crap did I say only a little over three weeks? I better get the ideas out of my head and into action! Time is ticking! As I'm trying to plan the party I'm also trying to decide if we should pierce Emmaline's cute little ears or not. I don't remember what age I was when I got my ears pierced, but I know I wasn't two. However, that doesn't really matter to me when getting Em's ears pierced.
I wanted to get her ears pierced when she was a baby, and Greg didn't so we never did. Then back in March around my birthday Greg said we could do it. That would be my birthday present, Em getting her ears pierced. Hmmm. Well not really, but since it was my birthday he was going to let me. Well, we never got around to it, and then I said how about for my Mother's Day present I get to take my little girl to get her ears pierced. Greg was fine with it again. Well.... you got it, we never did. Mother's Day ended up being a chaotic weekend with my mom's fall so needless to say the ears were on the back burner. So since her birthday is now approaching I'm thinking this would be a good time.
The past couple months Em has been very into my jewelry. She likes to take my wedding ring and put it on her finger. She'd wear it all day, or at least play with it if I let her, but that's not happening. It would surely be missing in no time. When she puts my ring on she also tries to grab my earrings. She gets mad that I don't take my earrings out and put in her ears. I try to explain to her that the earrings don't work the same as the ring and I can't just slip them on her. She doesn't get it though and gets angry. After all she is only 23 months though so that concept isn't quite getting through to her. I do ask her is she wants to get her ears pierced and every time she tells me in her cute little voice, "yes." So I'm thinking that yes this is the time to do it. Then again I think of going to the store, and I have to see my little baby girl crying in pain when they're piercing her ears so maybe we should wait. I know it's just for a second when the little pinch happens, but I don't like to see her in pain at all! I do know she'd look really cute though with her little earrings in her cute little ears. She is my Emmaline so how could she not be cute! I guess we can debate this back and forth for three more weeks and decide when it gets closer to her big day!

Well yes of course she should get her ears pierced. As u said it only pinches for a second. She won't cry long. Kaitlyn was 15mos when I got hers done so you are way late. She will be fine. I think its easier when little then when older and more dramatic and want more attention. YES!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I keep telling you Aunt Jen will get that for her bday!
Pierce away! I keep thinking I'm going to get Sylvia's done soon.
ReplyDeleteWas reading some of your blog and came across yours asking if anyone had their 2 yr dd's ears pierced. We did. Hope you don't mind me writing you an e-mail.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I wanted to have our dd's ears pierced early, but she had ear infections. When they cleared up, she was 2 and like your dd she started noticing mommy's pretty earrings.
Asked our ped who urged me to go ahead when mommy can care for them. She gave me some suggestions for moms having their toddler's ears pierced including some OTC meds to minimize any discomfort. They worked fine and our she will look adorable with little gold studs in time for her B'day party!
If you'd like our ped's suggestions, write me an e-mail and I'll send them to you.
